Location, geographical values
The Szczytno commune lies in the south part of the Warmia and Mazury district, in the Szczytno district. It counts about 10 000 inhabitants and occupies 346 square kilometres of surface. The population density in this area reaches 29,6 inhabitants per a square kilometre.
  
The natural environment and tourism
The surface encloses the grounds possessing very attractive natural values which include: numerous lakes, big forest complexes and a rich flora and fauna. The lakes are a big attraction for fishing and water sports lovers and the forest complexes which abound with blueberries, mushrooms, herbs are a real incentive for people who seek peace and a mainstay for beats of the chase and under protection, which is filled with a call of over 200 species of birds. The natural environment is transformed only in a little degree, relatively not polluted, however it still demands protection. Tourists are invited by such villages as: Jęczniki, Marksoby, Sędańsk, Sasek Mały, Kobyłocha ( Kobylocha ), Janowo. A special particularity of the commune is junipers in Lipowiec, which developed a tree - figure of enormous dimensions (about 14 metres). It is just there where a cycling route: Wielkie Jałowce (Great Junipers) runs.
Monuments
On the Szczytno commune's area there are over 30 wooden huts which are written down in a monuments' register, a great majority of them from the XIXth century and sacral objects: a neo - gothic church from 1892 in Lipowiec, a build in stone church with some wooden parts from 1938 in Szymany and a baroque church from 1767 (with a tower built on in 1876) in Trelkowo.
Economy
The economic offer of the Szczytno commune presents very attractively. On this area there is an airway port in Szymany near Szczytno which enables quick getting to a given place and in such a way there appears a chance of spending a short weekend and benefiting from all the mentioned attractions also by the tourists from more distant corners of our country as well as foreign tourists. Except for a transport offer based on connections conducting a civil airport's mission, an enterprise called Air Ports 'Mazury - Szczytno 'offers a possibility - according to mutually accepted rules - of hosting and arranging on the airport's area events such like: rallies, displays, fairs in all domains and also benefiting from the airport's area by flying implement's owners up to small, ultra-light flying upwards objects. Additionally, the Szczytno commune's offer apart from the grounds designated for individual, recreational objects comprises also assistance in finding a suitable location for a processing and producing activity whose technology will fulfill the demands of not infringing on the environment's state.
